HIROMI leans forward so that she can see GEORGIANA's face. She waves and touches the intercom control

HIROMI (to Georgiana)
Remember what we said. There will be a little pressure pushing you in your seat. Like at the ::amusement park, but it won't last long. Mommy is right here if you need anything. Okay?

Hiromi nods

SERGEI
Trust your uncle Sergei. I'll drive us up to the space station. No problem. Da!

SERGEI checks the strap on the stuffed animal. Then sits back checking his own straps. He touches the controls, checking them. Then there is a moment of silence as they all sit back. Chatter over the intercom. Only Sergei replies.

SERGEI (in Russian)
Ready.

On the exterior, the gantries are being lowered, and the fuel line is disconnected. We hear...

LAUNCH CONTROLLER
(In Russian)
Launch! ["Pusk!"]

Soyuz launches.

Direction

The camera reverses to show them from the back (in fact, this is somewhat later -- we've skipped some intervening action). The Soyuz rocket now looms over them, and the camera pulls slowly back and tilts up to include it.

Again, a montage contracts the action in time. We cut to the three cosmonauts on the stairs up to the elevator. Then we see them riding the elevator. We see the elevator rise to the top of the gantry from a low shot looking up the gantry. There is a cutaway to the mission control room. There is a static shot of the three empty couches in the descent module, as seen through the hatchway. One of the seats has a pink patterned cushion which makes it stand out from the others, and it is noticably smaller than the other two. Additional storage is strapped to the top and bottom of this couch -- it's basically a "childseat" (although it replaces the normal seat rather than being on top of it).

We see the three lowering themselves down into the Soyuz descent module.

HIROMI gets in first, standing on the center couch.. She then helps GEORGIANA in, and carefully straps her into her seat. GEORGIANA clutches the spacesuited doll to her. HIROMI tethers it with velcro to make sure it doesn't get in the way during the flight. She taps the stuffed animal hanging from the ceiling, and GEORGIANA smiles back at her.

HIROMI then moves over to the right hand seat, and SERGEI gets into the middle seat, after closing up the hatch.

DIALOG

SERGEI checks the strap on the stuffed animal. Then sits back checking his own straps. He touches the controls, checking them. Then there is a moment of silence as they all sit back. Chatter over the intercom. Only Sergei replies.

A count down sounds.

Georgy tries to peek out of the window, but can only see the gantry. Georgy turns to look at the stuffed animal.

The stuffed animal shakes.

Cut to an exterior shot. The gantries are being lowered, and the fuel line is disconnected. We hear the launch controller (as if over the radio loop).

Launch In a long shot, we see billowing flame and smoke from the fire pit under the rocket. The rocket becomes very loud. The tie-downs are released, and the rocket smoothly glides off of the pad. The camera follows the rocket in a series of quick cuts, ending with an upward-looking shot as the rocket disappears into a beautiful blue sky. The sound ends with the slowly fading rocket noise.

This is a perfect opportunity to test the viewers' sub-woofers, BTW. ;-)
